Amanda in the Office: Internship 2007

I just wanted to tell my wonderful clients and friends that my internship starts tomorrow.  I’m so excited to be a part of an organization that values creativity, writing, culture, and meticulousness.  I’ll only be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, though, so I’ll still have time to edit your papers and provide you with writing tips and advice.  To keep in touch or submit an editing request, please just use my Contact form, which you can find at the bottom of the sidebar to the left.  Have a great week and wish me luck.

College or University Summer Courses?

For a lot of people, it makes sense academically to take a class or two during the summer.  However, who really wants to spend time slaving over research papers and literature essays on a perfect beach day?  I’m here this summer to save you some trouble and some time.  Just think:  you can send me your assignment, then go to a cookout or take a day to work on your tan while I get the editing done.

I Won A Big Writing Award!

OK, so I’m going to toot my own horn a little.  I found out that I won this year’s Boston University College of Communication PR Writing Contest.  The contest was open to all public relations students in the undergrad and graduate programs here at BU.  I’m so proud, especially because I am still an undergrad and was competing with students in the entire program for this prize.  I’ll be part of an award ceremony in the fall honoring all the students who have won COM awards this year–I’ll keep you posted.  This is all very exciting, so I wanted to let my EbA friends know.  Talk to you soon!

New, Awesomely Easy-to-Use Contact Form

Now I feel like this is a real Web site (I think I’m channeling Pinocchio here), because I finally have a legitimate Contact Amanda page. Now you can send me your thoughts and questions directly from this site. Who doesn’t love convenience? Oh, and I’m a really good pen pal, so don’t be shy if you have anything at all to share regarding me, my site, your work, or writing in general.

As a side note, I would like to point out that yes, I am an actual, real, live person. Most editing sites are just a computer spitting out expensive prices and grammar changes, but I pride myself on being friendly, accessible, and real. My name really is Amanda Gravel and I really am from Boston and I really do sit down and read your writing when you send it to me. No grammar-robots here. Just a girl who’s keepin’ it real and improving people’s writing. Real people getting real results. That’s what Editing by Amanda is all about.

Proofreading Page

Under the Editing Services heading, you can now find a page for basic Proofreading. If you really only want someone to check for typos, spelling mistakes, and misused punctuation, this is the right option for you. And at only $2 per page, with NO MINIMUM, you can be sure that you’re getting the best deal around. However, I still recommend thorough editing if you are unsure about your grammar use, organization, and clarity. We can look at your work together (albeit in cyberspace) and choose the best option for you. Good luck with your writing and I’ll talk to you soon!

Resume Page

We’re still working out the kinks with the site, but if you click on Editing Services, you can see the pages for Cover Letters and Resumes under Related Pages. Hopefully soon these pages will show up within the editing category and it will be easier for you all to navigate the site.

Also, I am exploring easier payment options so that you can “check out” right here on the site instead of having to log into your PayPal account. I’ll keep you updated with these developments.

For now, please take a look at the new Resume page, located under Editing Services. I appreciate all the great feedback I’ve been getting from clients lately, and I wish all my students luck as finals period quickly approaches.

Essay Editing Questions

Q. Can I single space my paper?

A. You can, but I’d prefer it to be double spaced, and I’m sure your teachers would, too.

Q. Is there a page minimum?

A. No, but the price minimum for editing is $10. That’s why the first page is $10 and the rest are only $3.

Q. How do I know what a page really means?

A. For editing purposes, a page is 250 words. This keeps things consistent despite any formatting or font changes.

My Summer Internship!

Yesterday, at my interview, the company that I’ve wanted to intern with offered me a summer position. Yay! So, what does this mean for you? It means that now I can finalize my own summer schedule and develop an availability calendar for everyone interested in my exclusive Summer Workshops. I will be working at the agency two days out of each week in June, July, and half of August. If anyone has a weekday preference, now is the time to e-mail me with that information. Once I tell the agency which days I want to work for them, that’s final. So, let me know if there’s a specific day or time you want, and I’ll do my best to accomodate that before I make my other plans. More Summer Workshop details will be coming soon, so check back when you can.

Also, don’t be afraid to IM me or e-mail, even if it’s just to say hi. I really love hearing people’s questions and responses, so don’t hesitate to get in touch. I made this site into an open forum for a reason. Talk to you all soon!
