Amanda“So, who is Amanda?”

Let me tell you a bit about myself.

I pride myself on writing excellent papers and on keeping my skills sharp. I keep my Associated Press Stylebook at my bedside, so if I ever have a grammar, style, or punctuation question, I can refer to my most trusted source. I am currently working at a bustling public relations agency as a brand marketing intern, where I have many opportunities to use my editing and writing skills in the “real world.”

“Why did you start Editing by Amanda?”

Over the years, I’ve seen a lot of bad writing. (I’m not pointing any fingers!) Misspelled words in PowerPoint presentations, typos in papers, thesis statements that don’t actually say anything… You get the idea. Editing by Amanda is my way of helping to alleviate these problems. There’s no reason why anyone should be embarrassed in front of their classmates or teachers or potential employers because of spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, or any other writing faux pas. Anyone can understand the art and science of writing the way I do–you just have to tweak your thinking a little bit. I am passionate about flawless writing, and I am making it my mission to help other students to develop confidence in their skills that they can take to class and into the future.

“Well, that sounds great, but what makes you better than any other tutoring service?”

Well, the proof is in the pudding, but let me give you a taste.

I’m young, so I understand what you’re going through with heavy courseloads and teachers who don’t understand that 10 hours of homework a night isn’t fair. Because I’m on your level, I’m easy to talk to, I can put things in perspective, and I’m not going to sound like some grammar-drone, rattling off meaningless rules to you.

On the same note, Editing by Amanda is an individualized experience. You are paying for my undivided attention as well as the sound advice I can give. I’m not some teacher who had 40 papers to grade after our session, and I’m not some grad student at a writing center on campus who is only doing it to complete a work-study requirement. I don’t just block 15 minutes to look at your work and then send you on your way.

If I am editing a paper for you over the Internet, I am focusing on getting you the results you need and giving you specialized advice on how you can improve your work. I really care about my peers becoming better writers, and that sincerity shows in my work.
